Kait left the hills of West Virginia to study communication and journalism at Coastal Carolina University. After graduating and living in California, she returned to her home state to work with youth affected by the drug epidemic. Once she returned, the devastation of drug use became personal, and the inspiration for The Risk of Letting Go. She works in marketing and is writing her second manuscript for another novel.

THE RISK OF LETTING GO begins with a terrible death: a beloved husband dies of an overdose. Nolan’s family questions if it’s self-inflicted or the result of revenge. Flashback to six months earlier, and begin to see the unraveling of Nolan and the tension between him and his father-in-law surrounding a drug deal gone wrong. In Nolan’s downfall, his wife struggles to help him battle his demons or save herself from his destruction.

Seeking solace, she falls for an older man with hidden motives, further entangling herself in a web of emotional dependence and self-destruction.
